Vav is an assembly constituency in Gujarat. In 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections, the total percentage of voters in Vav Assembly Constituency was recorded at 68.71 percent.Vav comes under Banaskantha district of Gujarat State. Geniben Thakor (INC), Bhim Patel    (AAP), Swarupji Thakor (BJP) are key candidates contested from Vav constituency in the 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections along with many other independent candidates. In 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections, the total percentage of voters in Vav Assembly Constituency was recorded at 68.71 percent.

In 2022, Geniben Thakor of the Indian National Congress won the seat by defeating Swarupji Thakor of the Bharatiya Janata Party with a margin of 15601 votes.

Vav Assembly constituency falls under the Banaskantha Lok sabha constituency. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Indian National Congress candidate Ms. Geniben Thakor won from Banaskantha Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with the margin of 30406 votes by defeating Smt. (dr.)  Vav (Gujarat) By-Election Results 2024 Live: The bye-election in Vav took place on November 13, 2024. The contest saw two prominent candidates vying for the constituency’s victory. Swaroopji Thakor, representing BJP is contesting against Gulabsinh Rajput of Congress. Both the candidates emphasised on bringing development and grassroots empowerment, aiming to resonate with rural and urban voters alike.

Vav election has generated significant interest as it may influence the larger political landscape in the region. Both candidates have engaged in extensive campaigns, rallies, and digital outreach, highlighting their respective visions for Vav future. The Election Commission of India (ECI) first announced bypolls to 48 Assembly seats and two Lok Sabha constituencies on October 15.


The bypolls were to be held on November 13 for all seats except the Nanded parliamentary constituency in Maharashtra and Vav Assembly constituency in Gujarat , scheduled on November 20. However, the by-elections in 14 of the 15 seats were rescheduled from November 13 after receiving requests from political parties in view of voter turnout being affected due to festivities.
